Local Suspects Arrested After 20 Mile Police Chase

A police chase in Cape Girardeau that spanned over 20 miles leads to the arrest of three. Police say on Tuesday officers tried to stop a white Nissan Sentra near a business on Siemers Drive. The driver was identified as 30 year-old Charles D. Dobyns from Scott City. He drove away at a high rate of speed and would not stop for police.  Dobyns drove onto the interstate and led police through several streets and roadways for a long period of time before he lost control of the vehicle and wrecked in a ditch. He then ran from the vehicle but was caught by officers after a short time and was taken to the Cape Girardeau Police Department. He has been charged with felony resisting arrest. Dobyns is being held on a $15,000 cash only bond. The two passengers who were in the vehicle with him were identified as 34 year-old Christina Marie Jones and 32 year-old Brandi Heffington. Both passengers were also from Scott City. Marie Jones was charged with felony possession of controlled substance. Jones is being held on a $15,000 cash or surety bond. Heffington was arrested on existing warrants through Cape Girardeau County and Bollinger County for passing bad checks. Heffington has a told bond of $1,800 cash or surety.
