Illinois Law Makers Introduce Bill to Ban Gas Leaf Blowers

Gas-powered leaf blowers and foam food containers could be forbidden in the state of Illinois. A bill that would amend the Environmental Protection Act was proposed on Friday. The bill would prohibit the sale and use of gas-powered leaf blowers in the state.  Senate Bill 3313 states that leaf blowers that use gas are detrimental to the health of state residents as well as the environment. If the bill is approved by government officials and it gets the governor’s signature the new law would take effect on New Year’s Day 2022. Those who violate the new law could be required to pay a $500 fine. In addition senate bill 3677 was also proposed. If this bill is passed it would ban state stores for distributing or selling food containers that are composed of polystyrene foam. SB 3677 would forbid he foam containers used for takeout foods, packaged meat, eggs and bakery products. If both bills are approved they would both take effect on New Year’s Day Next Year.
