Over 100 Law Enforcement Agencies in Missouri Receive Over $700,000 in Grant Money

.The Missouri Department of Public Safety recently awarded a total of 106 law enforcement agencies throughout the state in excess of $700,000 in grants. The recipients will use the money to buy equipment they need such as, ballistic vests, first aid and trauma kits, police radios and other equipment. A total of $708,000 in federal Local Law Enforcement Block Grant (LLEBG/JAG) funds from the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance was given out to agencies that include municipal police departments, county sheriffs, public university police departments and state law enforcement agencies. State officials said funding will assist the departments in paying for  a total 143 ballistic vests, 67 police radios, and five vehicles and other important equipment. State officials said the grants will assist in protecting officers and increase safety across the state . Two Local departments that received funding include the New Madrid County Sherriff’s Office and the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Office.
