Candidates Chosen for April Election to Represent Central Ward

The candidates for the seat in Ward three were determined on Tuesday. The election that will determine who will take the seat will be on April 7, 2020. There were a total of 194 ballots cast by area voters on Tuesday. Over half of the votes that were cast in the election were cast for Nate Thomas.  The exact number of votes that were cast for him was 101. Another candidate that earned a spot in this spring’s election was Renita Green. Seventy-three of the votes cast on Tuesday were for her. Coming up in April local voters will elect Green or Thomas for the privilege of representing Cape Girardeau’s Central ward. The ward consists of areas on Pacific Street, westward to Kingshighway and Cape Rock Drive and south to Brink Street. Thomas was selected by city council members to fill the opening created by Victor Gun this past August.
