Sikeston man Appointed to SEMO Board of Regents

A Sikeston man was appointed to the SEMO Board of Regents. The appointments were made earlier in the week by Governor Mike Parsons. The man was identified as Lloyd Smith. Smith was appointed to the board along with Vivek Malik. The two appointments were make following the term expatiation of Cape Girardeau’s former mayor Jay B. Knudtson  and the passing of Dennis Vinson who was the former president and CEO of Signature Paper and Packing in Jackson. Smith will succeed Knudtson and he has previously served in the public sector by serving as the executive director as the state Republican Party until he retired seven years ago. He is currently finishing a two- year term on the Southeast Missouri Port authority Board. Other Previous experience Smith has includes serving as the chief of staff for former state representative Jo Ann Emerson and .U.S. Representative Bill Emerson officials say.
