A Jefferson County man has been given a four decade prison sentence for attempted murder of a pregnant woman. The man was identified as 40 year-old Victor Serrano. He pleaded guilty on Tuesday to one count of attempted murder. In exchange for his plea, four other counts, including aggravated kidnapping and domestic battery, were dismissed. He was arrested in December of 2018 after he led police on a high speed chase in Indiana. Officials said he seriously injured the woman in an incident near Country Club Road in Mt. Vernon then fled the state, leading police in Indiana on a chase that exceeded 100 miles per hour. He is required to serve 85% of his term of his 40 year sentence. He was also ordered to pay restitution.
