Nearly 20 Million Brought in by First Dozen Days of Cannabis Sales in Illinois

Over the first dozen days of legalized cannabis use in Illinois the state made 495,385 transactions that totaled nearly $20 million. Officials expect to have a tax revenue estimate by the end of next month when initial tax payments from dispensaries are due. In conjunction with the state’s focus on equity, one fourth of cannabis sales tax revenue will be put towards Restore, Reinvest and Renew (R3) program, which aims to address the impact of economic disinvestment, violence and the historical overuse of the criminal justice system. Last Tuesday, the Illinois Department of Agriculture began the application process for Cannabis Infuser. Transporter and Craft Grower license social equity applicants.  that include Licenses social equity applicants will be given out on the first of July.
