State Task Force Reveals Recommendations for Highway from Waterloo to Murphysboro

The Southwest Illinois Task released their final recommendations for a four lane highway that will run between Waterloo and Murphysboro Illinois. The task force recommended funding for the highway to make capacity better and cut down on travel times. In addition the recommendations were made to do away with right bottlenecks and congestion and increase safety for all travelers. Last month’s report determined that the entire cost the project is estimated to be $805 million. The four lane highway will run along state Routes 3/154/13/127 from Waterloo to Red Bud to Pinckneyville to Murphysboro. The whole project was divided into three sections. Members of the task force included representatives from business, labor, education, state and local elected officials, as well as the Kaskaskia Regional Port District.
