Officials with the Cape Girardeau Fire Department say that this past year was a busy one for them. They say the word busy refers to the size of the community. They say that a city the size of Cape Girardeau should have anywhere from 70 to 120 incidents per 1,000 residents. Officials said, the community demand was 143.45 per 1,000 people during the last calendar year. The number of incidents went up by 23.9 percent over the last five years, officials said.
