During Monday’s meeting, members of Sikeston’s City Council tabled a raise in the rental lighting rate from the Board of Municipal Utilities. This is because questions were brought up about lighting in certain areas within city limits. The new rates were brought about by BMU after they received assistance from a consultant, who is known all over the country to reassess their rates concerning both accuracy and adequacy. Their rates concerning rental lighting were included in the review, but they didn’t have a rate for the usage concerning LED lighting. They recently added the data along with developing associate rates that received approval from BMU’s board members. The new approved rates will cause residents, to pay an increase of a dollar weather the lights come with a pole or not. The last increase related to lighting took place twenty –two years ago.
