The 2020 New Year is starting off in a positive direction compared to this time last year when driving is concerned. Officials say there weren’t any traffic death’s boating deaths, or drowning during the 30-hour 2020 New Year’s holiday counting period. The 2020 New Year’s counting period ran from 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 31 through 11:59 p.m. Wednesday, January 1, 2019. Troopers responded to 72 total crashes, but there were only 34 reported injuries. In addition to the reported injuries there were 56 arrests made for DWI. At this point last year troopers responded to 1,301 traffic crashes, resulting in 11 deaths.
