SIU Carbondale Making ACT Optional for Students with High GPA’s

The admissions process for students who want to attend SIU Carbondale is about to become simpler. University officials said under a new initiative submitting ACT and SAT will not be required.  The changes are being done in conjunction with a nationwide trend that standardized tests are becoming optional. The change was made on Friday morning at 11.a.m. Students who apply to the university who have a 2.75 GPA or higher will be accepted into the university if they have met all incoming freshman requirements. Students will still have to take either entrance exam if they apply to the university with a lower GPA.
