Body Recovered from River in Paducah

The body of a man was found in the Ohio River just hours after his van was pulled from the river. Police say the body was found at Schultz Park, at the foot of Broadway.  Police say they don’t suspect foul play and the victim was identified as 49 year-old Keith F. Barnes. Police were dispatched at 6:26 a.m. on Thursday, Dec. 12 after the crew of the American Duchess Riverboat found a body in a submerged vehicle when the boat came to the dock at the River Front in Paducah. A solo diver with McCracken County Disaster and Emergency Services went into the water to remove the submerged vehicle from the water. The van was empty when it was pulled out of the water in the middle of the morning. Police say two men fishing from the riverbank spotted what appeared to be a body tangled in trees near the bank and called police at 1:30 p.m. Local firefighters were able to recover the man’s body via a rescue boat. Police say, the victims family they last saw Barnes on Saturday morning. Police looked at surveillance video from cameras at the foot of Broadway and saw the van go into the water on Monday Morning at 5:25.p.m. Anyone with information is asked to call the Paducah Police Department.
