Construction Has Begun on Behavioral Health Facility

Construction has begun on a new Behavioral Health Hospital in Cape Girardeau.  When the new facility opens up later next year it will provide the most extensive care to patients within a facility stretching all the way from St. Louis to Memphis.  Universal Health Services and Southeast Health are collaborating together for construction of the facility and to run it once it opens. The whole project will cost a total of 33 million. The new facility will be located close to South Mount Auburn Road and Highway 74 Just north of the Cancer Center at Southeast Health. Officials say construction is progressing on schedule, and they anticipate the first patients to be accepted by the end of next year. When the facility is complete Southeast Behavioral Health Hospital will consist of 102 beds and be a total of 68,000 square feet. The facility will be an inpatient facility that provides psychiatric and behavioral health services for all ages. University Health Systems is the largest of its kind in the country. They currently operate 250 facilities nationwide in over 37 states.
