City Council in Carbondale Considering Installing Solar Panels

The Carbondale city alderman will take into consideration the possibility of installing solar panels on three city buildings next year. Members of the city council would schedule the construction of the solar panels to begin after the first of the year with Straight Up Solar, the company would also be responsible for any related to the solar panels. The city would save an estimated $40, 0000 annually on energy use. Potential installment locations are the Southeast Wastewater Treatment Plant, the Public Safety building and the Carbondale Civic Center. City Council members plan to vote on the project by the end of this year.
