AED’s Donated to Five Local Organizations in Cape Girardeau

Southeast Health Ambassadors, which is part of the Southeast Health Foundation, is currently working to decrease the annual number of cardiac arrests throughout the country by distributing defibrillators within the region.  The distribution is made possible by using funds that were raised by the ambassadors Members of the Southeast Health Foundation were able to buy automated external defibrillators. This is the only treatment that is effective treatment to bring back a regular heartbeat during a sudden cardiac arrest.  A total of 10 community organizations were awarded AED’s. Five of the organizations were in Cape Girardeau. The organizations include Elks Lodge, Christ Church of the Heartland, and Safe House for Women, Missouri Department of Prohibition and Parole, and First General Baptist Church. Heart health and awareness and being proactive played a key role in to pioneer the AED Distribution Program  in 2016. Officials say, groups receiving AED’s will be trained on their use.
