Completed Study Ranks Jackson as Missouri’s 16th Safest City

A study that was recently completed by the consumer website ranked Jackson as the 16th safest city in Missouri. The list included a total of 124 cities throughout the state based on uniform Crime Reporting by the FBI from both 2016 and 2017. The factors that went into the rankings include population median income and crime rates. The violent crime rate in Jackson was calculated at 1.7 per 1,000 residents along with a property crime rate of 12.39 per 1,000 residents. The city of Jackson received a safety score rating of 82.42.The town’s median income was reported to be $57,692. Bonne Terre was determined to be the safest city in Missouri; the city received a safety score of 90.34. They also had a violent crime rate of 0.7 per 1,000 people and a violent crime rate of 2.51 per 1,000 A second city within the Southeast Missouri Region. The city of Cape Girardeau made the list at 103.
