SFMC and Cape Girardeau Officials Set to Enforce New Police Effort

St. Francis Healthcare officials are currently making plans to pay both the salaries and benefits of five more police officers; they will provide 24-hour law enforcement on the medical centers main campus. Members of the Cape Girardeau City Council are expected to give their approval of an agreement  they have with St. Francis. The medical center is part of the city’s healthcare system. Officials say they want to continue to provide a safe campus for our visitors, patients, and employees. They say, this is consistent   with other forward thinking healthcare systems striving to achieve the same goal. The agreement lays out expenses for the first two full years. At least 90 days prior to the contract ending for the second year city officials will purpose a budget for year number three. Both city officials and medical center officials would go into discussions about furthering the agreement. Police say, the hiring of five new officers will allow for one to two officers to be on duty at the medical center at any given time.
