Educators in Murphysboro are still without a new contract. Offers between both the Illinois Education Association and the Murphysboro Board of Education were turned down during negotiations on Monday evening. Most recently, Murphysboro Board of Education officials said offers were put forth by both sides and neither side could make an agreement. There are currently are no scheduled bargaining sessions scheduled between the two parties. Officials say, they remain hopeful and will continue to be available to bargain every day at 5 p.m. until they can reach a fair agreement that truly puts our students and schools first. MEA members include 152 teachers, counselors, nurses and social workers in District 186.
