Four Days of Recorded Heat Wave Comes to an End

There were four straight days of record highs in Barkley Field. All three days of the first week of October broke an all-time high for temperatures in Paducah after a record high of 95 degrees on the final day of September. On Tuesday the temperature reached an all-time high of 94 degrees. The previous record for the warmest temperature on the first day of October was 93 degrees back in 1953. On Wednesday the temperature reached 96 degrees. This was also a new record. The previous record was also 93 degrees and was set back in 1953.  The previous high the warmest day in the town’s history was 95 degrees set back on October 6, 1938. The average temperature for October in the area is 77 degrees.
