Riverside Library Buys Building they’ve Rented for a Decade

Riverside Regional Library now owns the commercial in Jackson after leasing it for a number of years. Officials say, the library bought the 29,000 square foot building in April for 1.1 million dollars. The library takes up a total of 17,000 square feet of the building located at 1997 East Jackson Boulevard. Officials say, Riverside has leased the remainder of the space to Adult and Teen Challenge Mid America.  Officials say, the lease agreement with Teen Challenge ends in 2025.Riverside moved into the building ten years ago. Riverside is made up of three library districts paid for by tax payers in Gape Girardeau Perry and Scott Counties. In addition to main Library in Jackson there are also branches being run in Oran Perryville, Scott City Altenburg and Benton.
