Cape Girardeau City officials are contemplating developing a partnership with the Cape Girardeau School District. The partnership will be put forth to make upgrades to both the baseball and softball fields at Cape Central High School. City officials were encouraged to look into if it was feasible to come together for the project. Cape Girardeau School Board members gave their approval to mater facilities plan in which these two projects are part of. Officials say, the school has to figure out a way to pay for it and the project could cost $ five million. In addition to renovating those fields the plan also includes renovations to the practice areas as well as pavement to the parkway of the marching band stadium. Officials say, the district hired PDS a design Services firm to develop a master plan for the CHS ball field complex. Officials say, the plan addresses problems identified by the consultant such as lack of drainage poor parking, poor sight lines, no access control, and poor pedestrian circulation.
