Missouri Governor Mike Parsons announced back on August 30, 2019 that the Missouri General Assembly will be called back in for a special session concurrent with the veto session. The special session he called will be this week. The focus of the special session will be on the computer science course access along with awareness of opportunities to peruse a career within the educational program and the expansion of courts throughout the state. The STEM education Program makes it mandatory for the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to establish a program over the internet to help students learn about the program. This also gives multiple companies the opportunity to apply for and to provide the program. Government officials say, by passing this during a special session, it will allow for DESE to start the process of implementing it for the 2019-20 school year.
