Man, Who Drove Wrong Way on I-55 Faces Manslaughter for Passengers Death

A 41 year-old man, who drove a Ford Pickup truck northbound in a southbound lane was charged with manslaughter in Scott County after a man riding with him in the truck as a passenger died. The victim leaped from the truck on Interstate 55 and he broke his neck. The driver was identified as Myron Lee Tilman. He was charged with additional charges such as first degree assault and leavening the scene of an accident. The incident happened on Thursday, August 29, 2018. Police believe the man, who jumped was 42 year-old Claud Nix Jr. He jumped to avoid a collision with an oncoming vehicle at the 88 mile marker. Police wrote in a statement that the truck did strike a southbound vehicle from behind.. Nixes body was discovered south of where the crash scene was. Police say, it indicated to them that he jumped from the vehicle before the accident. Police say, there were marks and items in the roadway and a parricidal blood and clothing that indicated Nix jumped from the truck and skidded across the highway in the direction where the accident occurred.
