Last Month is Twelfth Consecutive Month to have Above Average Rainfall

The National Weather Service Office in Paducah Counted up the final numbers of rainfall and temperatures in the month of August. Officials with the National Weather Service concluded the same numbers as they have for the past year. The conclusion was that rainfall for Western Kentucky Southeast Missouri and Southern Illinois was above average. This past month was recorded as the wettest ever in Paducah. The total amount of rain fall measured at Barkley Field Totaled 78.08 inches. However other areas in the region along Mississippi River Stretching from Cape Girardeau to Cairo Illinois and just north of Carbondale recorded less than two inches of rain from last month’s thunderstorms. The average degree in temperature   was about a single degree warmer than the regional average. There were no days reported to have reached triple digits  across the region.
