Illinois Governor Asks for a Disaster Declaration for Historic Flooding

Illinois Governor JB Pritzker has officially asked for a federal disaster declaration to be issued for many counties statewide that have been dealing with flooding since early February.  He made the request on Thursday in the aftermath of the state’s disaster assessment was finished. The governor made to separate requests for Individual and public assistance.  The local counties of Jackson, Union and Alexander County were counties, in which Governor Pritzger made both requests for. Officials with the governor’s office say, Illinois has not received a federal disaster declaration since 2013. If counties throughout the state are approved citizens, along with businesses affected by historic flooding  could apply grants and loans to help with expenses and lost items because of flooding.
