FEMA Teams Assess Flood Aftermath in East Cape Girardeau

A team of FEMA officials are currently making assessments of homes in the East Cape Girardeau area in the aftermath of flooding over the spring and summer.  Team members are currently having discussions with homeowners on Tuesday and assessing the outside of homes. FEMA officials say, they are assessing more than 200 homes reported to have water damage in Alexander County through the time from of February 24 through July 3. Alexander County is one of 20 counties around the state officials will assess from the four months of devastating flooding. East Cape Girardeau city officials say, there is a lot more damage left behind from the flood than originally thought and they hope to get the initial reports from this assessment back within a week.
