Art Building Joins Four Other SEMO Building to Become Abandoned

There are a total of four building on the Southeast Missouri State Campus that are vacant, and have an unknown future. The four empty buildings make up a total of over 160,000 square feet on the campus that won’t be used this school year. There is no set time table in which the buildings will be used. The Art building on campus was vacated earlier this summer because of a burst piped that flooded the whole first floor along with the elevator pit. University Officials say, an institution wide decision was made to go ahead and move everybody out because of the uncertain future leaks. University employees, who worked in the Art building, were relocated to the Pacific and Carnahan halls. Classes are being taken in different areas on the campus. The other buildings on campus to become abandon include Cheney Hall, Dearmont Complex, and Henderson Hall.
