The quarter cent capital Improvement tax was extended because of a landslide vote by area voters. The tax was set to expire, but will now be extended until 2034. The measure passed by a final vote of 1,072 to 401. With the outcome of the election, improvements can be made to the city hall, the airport terminal and tower, along with street repairs and improvements to the water system. Over the next 15 years the city will spend over 40 million dollars towards these projects. Upgrades to the airport and city hall will be the first priority, as city officials will issue bonds for these projects. City officials say, street repairs and improvements to the water system will be done on a pay as you go basis.
