The Mississippi River continues to sit above flood stage in Cape Girardeau. As of Thursday morning the river stood at 32.08 feet. The river has now been above flood stage for 142 consecutive days. The National Weatherservice says the river is expected to fall below 32 feet late Saturday night. City officials continue to monitor the pumping stations around the clock. The 142 days above flood stage have set a new record for consecutive days above flood stage. The previous record was 125 days that was set back in 1993.
