Governor JB Pritzker has signed a package of legislation with the goal of making the penalties for life-threatening violations on highways throughout the state stronger . The penalties within the legislation are being put forth for the protection of and enforcement officers, first responders and road workers. The legislation is being put in place because several state troopers have been killed this year on various highways throughout the state. Workers in the governor’s office say, he package of legislation honors the memory of Troopers Christopher Lambert, Brooke Jones-Story and Gerald Ellis. The package includes Senate Bill 1862 that greater enforces Scott’s Law, and Senate Bill 2038, that creates move over task force.
