Members of Sikeston City Council voted to approve marijuana zoning within the city limits of Sikeston. When marijuana dependencies are set up within the city they must be within a distance of 1,000 feet from churches, schools and daycares. Council members originally discussed the issue at a council meeting held at the first of the month. It was there that council members made the acceptation to the maximum distance of 1,000 feet from these businesses. The bill was approved on Monday to allow plenty of time for parties who are wanting to set up dependencies to meet state deadlines to apply for a license. The state will be accepting applications starting on Saturday through the seventeenth.
