The fight against Mississippi River flood waters still continues in East Cape Girardeau, even though river levels are dropping. Members of the Illinois National Guard were in the area on Sunday. They were going around the town and making inspections of pumps as well as walls made of sand bags. They were also providing help to the locals in any way that was needed. National Guard officials say, the floodwaters are still a threatening concern to the community. Soldiers say they are thankful for all the help from community members and volunteers to help save the lives and property from their community during the devastating flooding.
