Man Jailed for Armed Robbery

A man was sentenced to 34 years in prison for an incident near the Carbondale High School on August 3, 2018. He was identified as 24 year-old Nicholas A.M. Hastings. He was given a 34 year jail sentence, in the Illinois Department of Corrections on charges of armed robbery. He was proven guilty on April 18, 2019. On the Afternoon of August 3, 2018, near the Carbondale Rebound High School, the victim got into the rear driver seat of a car that his high school classmate was driving.  Hastings was riding in the passenger seat in the front of the car. He then turned at the victim, and pointed a gun in his direction, and made the demand for money. He then shot the victim in the abdomen when they were getting out of the car.
