River Continues to be Above Flood Stage in Cape Girardeau

The Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau is still above flood stage. As of Thursday the river was at 34.5 feet. The river has now been above flood stage for 135 consecutive days. This is the longest the Mississippi River has ever been above flood stage. The previous record of 126 days was set back in 1993. The record was broken early last week. The National Weather Service says the river is expected to remain above flood stage until early August.
