As of noon on Wednesday the Mississippi River stood at 35.04 feet. The river has stood at or above flood stage since March 13, 2019. The National Weather service forecasts the river will remain at 35 feet over the next two or three days. The river is then expected to go down by three feet in the coming week. The river is expected to drop below flood stage on August 4th or 5th. Flood stage in Cape Girardeau is 32 feet. The river has broken a record for days above flood stage that was set back in 1993 of 126 consecutive days.The river has now been at or above flood stage for 134 consecutive days.
