Gape Girardeau Officials Hire New Fire Chief

After a search that lasted 10 months, city officials in Cape Girardeau have hired a new fire chief. The new fire chief was identified as Travis Hollis. City leaders say, he has a diverse skill set and the ability to guide the fire department through the daily demands of the city, as well as during a time of emergency. Hollis has spent a total of 24 working in fire service. His most recent position was serving as the deputy chief with the Rogers, Arkansas Fire Department. In addition, Hollis has also worked in the Operations Division and Community Risk Reduction Division. He has worked in additional roles as a accreditation manager, ISO manager and information technology manager. The city has been without a fire chief since December, when Rick Ennis was dismissed. Hollis and his family will relocate to the area in the fall.
