FEMA Adds Cape Girardeau to a List to Conduct Damage Assessments

The county of Cape Girardeau has been put on the federal disaster declaration request that issued last week by the state of Missouri. This is part of an agreement between FEMA and the state of Missouri to broaden last week’s federal disaster declaration. The expansion is in response to the flooding, tornadoes and severe storms beginning on April 29, 2019. Officials with FEMA have agreed to have joint damage assessments with SEMA and local officials in Cape Girardeau, Marion, Newton, and McDonald counties. These assessments are scheduled to start of July 23, 2019.
