Flood water Strands Motorists in Alexander County

The high water levels in East Cape Girardeau caused three motorists to become stranded. The Cape Girardeau Fire Department helped respond to three stranded motorists on a car on Route 146 around 9:30 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2019. The vehicle reportedly drove around barricades and ended up in ditch with floodwater on Route 146 eastbound in Alexander County. The county is located across the way from Cape Girardeau. The vehicle the motorists were riding in was filled with water, but the three were rescued from the vehicle’s roof top. The three people were rescued to the Illinois National Guard and State Police in a Jon Boat.
