City Officials in the City of Jackson are reminding residents and those who own a business to employ contractors only if they have a certified license in the surrounding area. Citizens and business owners’ residents and business owners can contact the Jackson Public Works Department for more information regarding license contractors. The city is also assisting property owners remove debris from property that was damaged. Citizens can leave debris to be pickup on the curb by their property. For debris to be picked up it has to be stacked in an orderly fashion at the street curbside by the property owner. Residents are not required to contact the Public Works Department for curb side pickup. There are no set times for pickup. Debris from the storm is considered tree limbs, brush and yard waste, which the storm blew down. City officials warn residents careful of fire hydrants, water meter pits, and electric transformer boxes in the front of residential property. City workers plan to begin sweeping streets next week. Cleanup is taking place every day, and Fourth of July events will take place as scheduled. Citizens who, have questions about anything can contact the Jackson Public Works Department.
