Fire Fighters Fight Church Fire, Possibly From Friday Storms

A Church in Scott City Caught fire on Friday afternoon due to storms. There were no injuries to report because there was no one inside the church at the time of the fire. The church was burned down by fire around 4:30.p.m. on Friday afternoon. Fire crews were inside the church when the roof collapsed. They were being checked out by EMS. The church is located at intersection of East Outer and James Street. The church is considered a total loss from the fire. In addition to the church burning the storms also caused damaged Scott City Fire Department’s phone system at Fire Station 1. It is unknown when the system will be repaired, but residents, who need to report and emergency can call 911.
