Man Jailed for Killing Dog Taken Into Custody for Threatening Witness

A Murphysboro, Illinois man, who was sentenced for killing a dog, is facing new charges. The man was identified as Travis W. Worthen. He was taken into custody on an aggravated assault charge Monday night, May 9 on Maple St.  Police say, Worthen allegedly threatened witnesses after recently being sentenced to 24-months probation for killing a dog. A court hearing has been scheduled o revoke Worthen’s probation on Monday, May 20, 2019and an arraignment hearing, on the new charge, has been scheduled  for Wednesday, June 5, 2019  The hearing will take place at the Jackson County Courthouse.
