One person was taken into custody following a police chase in Cape Girardeau on Wednesday. The man, who was arrested, was identified as 38 year-old Nathan Smith. Police say, they saw him on Broadway. Police say, he knew he had active warrants out for his arrest and tried to pull him over, but said Smith drove away. The suspect continued on Broadway and turned on Middle Street. Police said he finally stopped after hitting a dumpster. They say Smith then tried to run away, but was caught and arrested. He was wanted on two active warrants for unlawful use of a weapon in New Madrid County, which had a $7,500 cash-only bond and probation violation, full U.S. extradition, which had no bond. More charges are pending. Smith was transported to the Cape Girardeau County Jail.
