Taking of 114 Fish Leads To Four Arrests in Illinois

Four suspects were taken into custody following an investigation by officers with the Illinois Department of Conservation. Officials say, the subjects were arrested for the unlawful take of 114 bass, in Jackson County. Officials said they received information of three people, allegedly fishing Burning Star Fish and Wildlife Area. Officials say, they identified distinguishing features at a nearby lake. Officers said they contacted the landowner who said the individuals did not have permission to fish the lake. Following an interview with the Officials the four suspects were cited for fishing without consent of landowner and unlawful take of 76 largemouth bass. After a follow up investigation officers another suspect was found to have taken an additional 38 Large Mouth Bass from the from the Burning Star property. The suspect was also cited for ited for unlawful take of 38 bass.  The suspects were also given Warning. They face potential civil charges for the restitution of the fish.
