Metropolis Man Arrested After Chase

An attempted traffic stop in Metropolis, Illinois ends with an arrest after two different chases through the city. Police say, officers attempted to make a traffic stop on U.S. 45 and Mary’s Ln. on Tuesday, April 9. Police say, the driver, of the vehicle accelerated once the lights were activated on the squad car and took off from the intersection. Police kept chasing the man into town on U.S. 45 to Yasoda and then onto Sixth St. to Cherry St. Police say, the vehicle got stuck at an alley between Fourth and Fifth Streets, where the chase ended. The suspect was identified as 24 year-old Steven J. Youman. After the chase ended the suspect got out of the vehicle and tried to run from police. Officers chased him for a couple blocks. The suspect was taken into custody and booked into the Massac County Detention Center. He was charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, driving while license revoked operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and resisting arrest.
