Sikeston Man Charged In Officer Involved Shooting

Police in Marion are currently investigating, after they received a call about a reckless driver that led to a shooting involving police. Just after 10.p.m. on Friday police received the call about a reckless driver all over the road on Interstate 57 in Marion. Police say the vehicle turned onto West Main Street from the interstate and went east into Marion. Officers found the vehicle and tried to pull it over. The driver was identified as 28 year-old Ethan Adams, of Sikeston. He did come to a stop for police when they tried to conduct a traffic stop. Police say, the driver of the vehicle swerved at multiple police cars before deliberately ramming one Marion police squad car. That officer was injured. Around 10:19.p.m.  a police officer shot at the suspect in his vehicle , and the bullet hit the driver. Despite being hit the driver continued to flee officers until the vehicle crashed near the intersection of Deyoung and Market Streets.The suspect and the policeman were treated for their injuries at local hospitals. Adams was charged with Aggravated Battery to a Police Officer, Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding Police and multiple other traffic charges related to the incident.
