The Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines, Iowa, has awarded the city of Cape Girardeau with a rehabilitation grant worth a total of $121,330. The grant provides rehabilitation funds for up to ten housing units with a market value of $16,500 each. These units can be used by both individuals and families. The grant can be utilized by anyone living within the city limits of Cape Girardeau. The grants will be given out on the basis of those who are first to apply. Applications will be accepted starting on April 9, 2018, but they will only be given to Senior Citizens. A meeting for the public to attend will be held at 7.p.m. that evening at City Hall in the City Chambers. Those, who wish to turn in their application on April 9th, can do so during normal business hours from 8.a.m. to 5.p.m. at the planning services division at City Hall.
