A Carbondale, Illinois man accused of breaking into a home in November has been given a six year prison sentence. The man was identified as 25 year-old DeShawn Matthews. He pleaded guilty to a home invasion charge that accused him of robbing a home on November 26, 2017. He will spend the next six years at the Illinois Department of Corrections. Once his prison term ends he will serve three years of mandatory supervised release. The suspect was accused of pushing his way into an apartment located on Oak Street in Carbondale. He was taken into police custody later that evening.
