The Jackson County Sheriff’s department is currently excepting scholarship applications from high school students throughout the state of Illinois. These scholarships will be awarded to in-state students only for next school year beginning in August of this year. In addition to being an Illinois resident a student must be attending an institution within state boundaries. A student must also be enrolled in enough credit hours to be considered a full time student to be eligible. Sheriff’s Department will hand out four separate scholarships, which are $500 apiece. Money from these scholarships can only be used for books and tuition. Students who wish to apply must submit an application along with an essay to the Sheriff’s Department in Murphysboro. Anyone seeking more information should contact the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. Applications are due on March 15, 2019. The Sheriff’s Department is set to award over $50,000 dollars in financial aid statewide for next school year.
