A vote will come on April 2, 2019 to determine whether a new aquatic facility will be constructed for the City of Cape Girardeau. The decision was put forth by the school board to add the issue to the ballot. Both City officials and the School board had come to an agreement to break ground at Jefferson Elementary School. The city has set aside over $6 million to be invested into the project. The proposal to replace the current pool must receive a minimum of 57% of votes to be passed to break ground.
